What The Promise Place Offers
Promise Place is a safety-net crisis care program designed for families facing temporary emergencies who need a safe, supportive place for their dog while they get back on their feet. The program is built to help prevent unnecessary surrender by offering short-term, trauma-informed care that keeps dogs safe, healthy, and connected to the people who love them.
Families who qualify may receive short-term crisis care during situations such as housing instability, hospitalization, mental health treatment, domestic violence, displacement, or other urgent family emergencies. During that time, dogs receive a clean and secure place to stay, daily enrichment, behavior monitoring, transportation support when needed, and foster placement. Care is provided using low-stress, fear-free handling principles to reduce anxiety and promote stability.
Promise Place also offers medical stabilization, including basic medical support such as flea and tick treatment, wound care, and medication management. Beyond hands-on care for the dog, the program includes resource navigation to help families connect with outside support like low cost spay and nueter programs, low cost vaccine clinics, pet food pantries, and basic dog supplies.
Throughout a dog’s stay, the program emphasizes reunification whenever possible. Owners stay connected through weekly check-ins, and when the family is ready, Promise Place supports reunification with supplies like food, a leash, and enrichment items, followed by check-ins after 7 and 30 days. If reunification is not possible, the program can offer transition into owner-assisted rehoming, offering a dignified and collaborative path forward for the family and dog. *Surrendering is not the best option.
Promise Place is designed to provide short-term crisis care for dogs and their families. Most placements last between 7 and 30 days, with any extension considered on a case-by-case basis depending on the family’s circumstances, communication, and the dog’s needs.
The Promise Place has a restriction to Small Breeds and dogs under 55 lbs.
Because space and resources are limited, Promise Place cannot provide indefinite care, but we work closely with each family to support or help identify another appropriate next step.
At its heart, Promise Place is not a shelter program. It is a family-preservation and crisis-response program created so that no family has to lose their dog because of a temporary hardship.

Daisy’s Promise Dog Rescue hopes to prevent unnecessary pet surrender by providing short‑term crisis care and support services that stabilize families and keep dogs safe, healthy, and connected to their people.
